Temporary Community Art installation!
Create a temporary art installation of portraits of members of our city!
Meet the Photographer
David Lawrence
Hi, I’m David. I’m an Orlando-based portrait photographer and artist with over a decade of experience taking photos, telling stories, and collaborating with creative clients both here at home and across the globe.
My goal with community facing projects is to create space for people to be themselves and share all of their stories with the world!
As seen in…
Past Projects/What’s Possible
I’ve always had the belief that art and stories should be EVERYWHERE.
A few years back I started wheat pasting portraits in public places with the goal of sharing the stories of community members on a large scale.
I’m Just Happy to Be Here
I’m Just Happy to Be Here. - March 2022
My friend and fellow Photographer Alexis Torres posted a photo I took of her on Instagram and wrote “I’m Just Happy to Be Here”.
It was such a simple, but profound statement that I knew we could all relate with.
I asked if she would be down to take a ton of portraits of people in the community and wheat paste the phrase all over a wall in a public place.
She said “yes”.
Within a couple weeks we were at “Etoile” in the Milk District making portraits of community members. Together we printed all of the faces with the simple reminder “I’m just happy to be here” and wheat pasted them on a giant wall outside of the building as a temporary art installation for community members to view and enjoy!
Real Time x Smoke & Donuts
June 2025
I’ve spent years of my life documenting everything imaginable. At some point I was introduced to a friend who was creating an app called “Real Photos”. With the app it gave a way to build into every photo where and when the image was created and verify that it was completely “Real”.
With that, I started taking walks and documenting everything. Those images became several hundred images in a gallery called “Real Time” featured at “So What Arts” gallery in Orlando, FL and and another exhibit called "Easter Eggs” in the Orlando Museum of Art.
With this became hundreds of images that I knew still needed to be seen by the world. Mural space opened up at a local barbecue spot called “Smoke & Donuts and they allowed me put up a wheat paste mural of some of the images from the collections.
What it’s like to collaborate:
“David is amazing! Extremely professional (and flexible and accommodating), and warm, and so talented. Highly recommend if you're in need of headshots (or any photos really). Getting headshots can be such an awkward experience, but David will put you at ease and capture your authentic self. Great experience and will hire again!”
— Khushboo P.“This being my first time in front of a camera, I was reluctant about getting professional headshots done. David definitely is gifted at making people feel comfortable. Within the first few minutes, I was already smiling and laughing with him in the studio. I’ll be working with him again! If you are a little nervous about trying it, I’d say that’s completely normal. But after you break the ice, you’ll want to come back for more!”
— David A.”I have worked with David several times over the past 2 years. The reason I keep going back is because he displays a clear passion for his artistry and cares about my vision just as much as he cares about his brand. He is welcoming and allows me to be vulnerable in my own skin, and every batch of photos comes out differently depending on what they're for. I highly recommend David for professional photos.”
